Hotel Hermitage, La Biodola, Elba Island

This splendid hotel was found in the early ‘50s, on the site of a small fishing village, by the Genoese aristocrat Paolo De Ferrari, after he fell in love at first sight with the beauty of the Biodola bay and its uncontaminated natural setting.
The hotel stands amidst the rich Mediterranean maquis, surrounded by strawberry trees, bolm oaks and lentiscus, nowadays a protected area within the Tuscan Archipelago Park.
Its buildings, consisting of charming little villas, directly overlook the beach, likea spacious balcony opening onto the seaside view below. The 130 rooms, all with patio or balcony framed by geraniums, bougainvilleas and a wealth of flowers, have all the comforts of a luxury hotel.

Guests have a choice of three restaurants: the elegant, sophisticated Hermitage restaurant services traditional Italian cuisine and a vast wine-list including the great Tuscan reds. La Ghiotta, more informal, on the beach, and Il Fuoco di Bosco, beside the pool, where parties with live music are held on Saturday evening, rediscovering the fisherman’s tradition of cooking freshly-caught fish around a large bonfire on the beach.

Access

It takes about one hour from Piombino to Portoferraio by ferry then it takes about 15 minutes to the hotel by car. The direct flights are available from Milano-Pisa-Elba island in summer season. Minibus from Pisa International airport on request.
